The two we most often discuss

Start here

30-year term

The most coverage per dollar. A fixed premium for 30 years, a level death benefit, and nothing else moving. For an owner with a mortgage, a family, or a personal guarantee behind business debt, this is usually the right first policy — and we generally suggest the 30-year length so the coverage outlasts the obligations.

Term builds no cash value. If you outlive the term, coverage ends.

Indexed universal life (IUL)

Permanent coverage that also accumulates cash value. Interest credited to that cash value is linked to the performance of an index such as the S&P 500 — subject to a cap, a participation rate, and a floor that limits losses in a down year.

Important: an IUL is not invested in the market and does not track the index. Index crediting typically excludes dividends, and caps limit how much of an up year is credited. Cash value is held in the insurer's general account. You can access cash value through loans or withdrawals, but doing so reduces the death benefit and can lapse the policy if not managed. Costs of insurance rise with age. Illustrations are projections, not guarantees.

Many owners start with term for the coverage, then add or convert to permanent coverage later once cash flow supports it. That sequencing is a conversation, not a form.
